Policies Impact Families

Maryland Essentials for Childhood (EFC) understands that policy work matters. Legislative and executive action can positively impact the lives of Marylanders and have generational impacts in addressing and preventing trauma. Together with a broad coalition of organizations, advocates and community members, EFC provides a valued perspective to members of the Maryland legislature and state government.

Together, We Reach Our Policy Goals

Our collaborative work with partners, community groups and other coalitions has contributed to more than a dozen policy successes for Maryland in just the last 7 years. Some of these include:

  • Medical Director for Child Welfare
  • S.E.S.A.M.E. (Stop Educator Sexual Abuse Misconduct and Exploitation)
  • Paid Family Leave
